Our Story

A place to learn. A place to grow. A place to remember that change is possible.

At the heart of Herb & Legend is a very simple desire:

I want to help people.

I want to offer hope—especially to people who are walking through some of the hardest seasons of their lives—and remind them that growth is still possible.

I want to empower people to become curious.

To ask questions.

To ask WHY?

To become their own advocates and learn to trust their ability to seek answers, gather knowledge, and make informed choices for themselves.

I want to help people look a little deeper—not only into the world around them, but into themselves. To explore what it means to be a spirit having a human experience. To find greater balance within their lives. To reconnect with nature, with curiosity, with creativity, and ultimately with themselves.

That is the reason Herb & Legend exists.

The herbs, the workshops, the tarot, the plant walks, the handmade creations, the gatherings, the stories—they are all different doors into the same larger purpose:

connection.

Connection to the natural world.

Connection to knowledge and old ways of knowing.

Connection to our own intuition and creativity.

And connection to the deeper questions that make us stop and ask, Why am I here? What am I meant to learn? Who am I becoming?

And perhaps most importantly, I don't want people to need me forever.

One of my greatest joys is watching someone learn something here and then take it out into the world.

When someone learns about a plant and begins growing it themselves...

When they make their own tea, salve, tincture, or creation and then teach someone else...

When someone takes something they learned here and shares it with their family...

When someone tags Herb & Legend in something they've made or discovered and I realize that the

knowledge has traveled beyond these walls...

That's when I know the work is working.

Because it creates a ripple.

One person learns something.
They share it with another.
That person becomes curious.
They learn something new.
And the knowledge keeps moving.

I get incredibly excited when I see those ripples happening.

I don't need to be the person standing at the center of every one of them.

I just want to be part of creating them.

My hope is to reach as many people as I can—not by telling them what to believe or how to live, but by giving them tools, knowledge, questions, and a safe place to explore.

Because I believe we are all capable of growing.

Even in the hardest seasons.

Especially then.

That is Herb & Legend.

Not simply a shop.

Not simply an apothecary.

But a place to learn, to question, to create, to reconnect, and to remember that the path forward may be closer than we think.

How Herb & Legend Came to Life

For a long time, I thought success meant making more.

I had a career, I was earning good money, and from the outside, it probably looked like I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing.

But inside, I felt increasingly unsatisfied.

I knew I was capable of more—but not necessarily more money. I felt like I was meant to be doing something that mattered. Something that helped people.

Something that felt connected to who I was becoming.

Still, I got caught up in the money game.

I chased the next number, the next accomplishment, the next level of income, believing that eventually I would reach the point where I could finally have the freedom I wanted.

And then I realized something rather simple:

Money is taxable. Time isn't.

The more money I made, the more time it seemed to demand.

And time is the one thing none of us can earn back.

None of us is guaranteed tomorrow.

I began asking myself a different question.

Not “How much more can I make?”

But:

“How do I want to spend the time I have?”

I wanted my time back.

I wanted to be present for my own life. I wanted the freedom to follow my curiosity, to learn, to create, to work with my hands, to spend time in nature, and most importantly, to do something that could make a difference in someone else's life.

So I chose time.

It wasn't the easiest choice, and it certainly wasn't the safest one on paper. But it was the choice that felt right.

I followed my passion.

And somehow, my life supported that decision.

Little by little, the pieces began to come together. The things I had been learning, the plants I was discovering, the traditions I was exploring, the things I was creating, and the desire I had always carried to help people began to converge into something tangible.

A physical place.

A little shop.

A place where people could walk through the door and become curious.

A place where I could share what I was learning and encourage others to keep learning too.

That place became Herb & Legend.

What started as a decision to reclaim my time became an opportunity to use that time in a way that felt meaningful.

And I have learned something along the way:

When you make space for the life you actually want, sometimes life meets you there.

Herb & Legend continues to grow and change because I do.

I don't know exactly what it will become years from now—and I'm actually okay with that.

Because the whole point was never to build something perfect.

It was to build something meaningful.

Something that allows me to spend my time helping people, sharing knowledge, following my curiosity, and watching the ripples travel farther than I ever could on my own.

And that, to me, is a life well spent.

When Someone Else Tells Your Story

Sometimes we're so close to our own story that we can't see the whole picture.

Recently, Justine Kenahan of In Her Magic spent an afternoon at Herb & Legend—walking through the gardens, exploring the shop, and talking with me about the journey that brought this place to life.

Justine is creating something I truly believe matters. Through her In Her Magic project, she is taking her own time to seek out women with stories, creative paths, businesses, and journeys worth sharing—and giving those stories a place to be heard.

I'm honored that she chose to tell a little piece of mine.

Rather than try to tell you what she saw, I'll let Justine tell the story herself.

Herb & Legend — In Her Magic

The story behind the woman, the land, and the little apothecary that grew from it all.

Where We're Going

I don't know exactly where Herb & Legend will take me next—and I don't think I'm supposed to.

What I do know is that I want to keep learning, keep sharing, and keep creating spaces where people feel encouraged to be curious, ask questions, and discover what is possible for themselves.

My hope is to reach as many people as I can and create ripples that continue long after someone leaves Herb & Legend.

If something you learn here inspires you to grow a plant, make something with your own hands, ask a deeper question, share what you've learned with someone else, or simply believe that growth is possible during a difficult season of your life—then the ripple has begun.

That's the future I want to build.

Not something that stays here.

Something that keeps moving.

And if Herb & Legend can be one small part of that journey for you, then I am exactly where I'm meant to be.
